With a chill in the air and Halloween treats on hand, Bluegrass Community and Technical College will wrap its Moonlight Movie Night series for the year.

BCTC Campus Director Bruce Manley said this will be the first time the school has had a movie night this late in the year. Thanks to a rain date earlier in the summer, the showing of “The Greatest Showman” will now begin around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

“A lot of people love it,” Manley said of the movie. “It’s a musical. I’ve seen its twice and I love it.”

Before the movie, about 20 vendors will be set up around the college’s walking trail with treats for all who come. The vendors, he said, will be dressed in costume for a “tent-or-treat” time beginning at 6:30 p.m. The movie will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Having a movie night this late in the fall makes it a bit of an unknown, he said. The summer movie nights usually attract about 600 people, while the Readifest event brings in more than 1,000, he said.

“Bundle up and brings coats and blankets,” he said. In case of rain, the event will move inside.

The event is free. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be available as well.

“It’s a good fun event that won’t break the bank,” he said.
