Investigators noted the truck’s air bag deployed, but it did not appear Carpenter was wearing his seat belt at the time of the impact.

Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue said it appears Carpenter lost control of his truck and left 125 feet of skid marks before it went off the road.

No one else was in the truck and no other vehicles were involved. Perdue said toxicology results are pending.

The crash was reported at 3:54 p.m. and Carpenter was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. by the coroner’s staff, according to the report.
