The Rev. Farley Stuart, of First United Methodist Church, told the hundreds of attendees at the Community Thanksgiving Service to not forget the sauce and the cream this year during the holidays.

Stuart spoke of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, telling attendees to always rejoice, to always pray and to always give thanks for it is God’s will.

Stuart’s message was one part of the annual Winchester-Clark County Community Thanksgiving Service.

Hundreds of church-goers gathered Sunday at Central Baptist Church to take part.

The combined service is sponsored by the Winchester-Clark County Association of Churches.

Featured music during the evening included “The Big Sound” children’s choir under the direction of Steve Crosby of Calvary Christian Church, and an adult unity choir directed by Michael Houchens of Central Baptist Church, which sang “Come Ever Reign.”

Shawna Mitchell from First Christian Church also shared a special moment with children attending the service.

An offering was taken to support the transient ministry, which is administered under the direction of Clark County Community Services.

Mayor Ed Burtner gave the closing prayer.
