Woman charged for lottery fraud

A woman is facing felony charges after allegedly throwing away or stealing lottery tickets without paying for them.
Kelli L. Browning, 30, of Jeffersonville, was arrested Nov 21 by Winchester Police for attempting to influence the winning of a prize by coercion or fraud, according to court documents.
The charge is a felony with a sentence of 10 to 20 years upon conviction.
According to the arrest citation, Browning was an employee at Fast Lane Tobacco on West Lexington Avenue.
Between Oct. 22 and 29, she allegedly scanned multiple lottery tickets while she was working and did not pay for them.
The tickets were either thrown away or hidden underneath the cash register, according to the citation.
Surveillance video from the store also showed Browning taking groceries with out paying for them and taking money from the store, police said.
In all, Browning allegedly took $997.31 in lottery tickets, groceries and money, according to the citation.
Browning was released from the Clark County Detention Center after posting a $1,000 cash bond.
She is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 7 in Clark District Court.
