Christmas bazaar at Winchester Community Church

Winchester Community Church, 125 Franklin Ave., will have a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Items will include crafts, jewelry, toys and the church’s latest cook book, among other items. Lunch of chili, hot dogs and a bake sale will be available. For more information, call 859-595-0304.

Services at Emmanuel Episcopal Church

Sunday marks the first Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the advent wreath candle at the 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 2410 W. Lexington Ave. The Sacrament of Healing will also be offered. Conversation and Communion will be celibate at 5:30 p.m. at Gaunce’s. All are welcome. Father Jim Timble is the new priest-in-charge at the church.

Services at Salem Church at Pine Grove

Sunday, the congregation of Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road, begins its celebration of Advent, during which we anticipate the coming of Jesus Christ to the world. Throughout the season, Pastor Don Stanley will share a series of sermons on “The Women of Christmas,” beginning with Eve. Worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m. Plan to stay after the service for a soup and sandwich luncheon, and to help decorate the church for Christmas.

Services at Liberty Bible Church of God

Services at Liberty Bible Church God are as follows: Sunday School, 9:30 a.m.; Sunday church services, 10:30 a.m.; Sunday evening Bible study, 5 p.m.; and youth group, 5 to 7 p.m. Sundays. Interim pastor is Jerry Owen. Guest speaker is Brock Barnhouse.

Food pantry at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., will open a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry will be open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624. 

Events at Trinity UMC

— Trinity United Methodist Church, 307 N. Main St., has Sunday services at 10:30 a.m.

— Trinity United Methodist Church Thrift Store is open every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the first two Saturdays of December. During the Christmas holiday season, the Christmas Store will be open on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and every Saturday morning until Christmas.

— Community Children’s Bash, 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Trinity UMC, 306 N. Main St. This is a joint event between Trinity United Methodist Church and First United Methodist for children in kindergarten through fifth grades with a meal, games and the Christmas story. Trinity’s van will be available to pick up children who would like to come to the church. Services at First Presbyterian Church

Services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults begin at 9:30 a.m. Sundays. Junior high and high school youth groups meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays. All are welcome.
