Nonprofits raise $263K in GoodGiving

Clark County nonprofits raised more than $260,000 in a week through this year’s GoodGiving Challenge.

The challenge is a partnership between Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing and has raised more than $8.5 million for charities since 2011.

The challenge ran from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.

This year, 20 Clark County nonprofits participated and raised $263,747.

The Clark County Community Foundation has once again promised a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000 per local nonprofit, with eleven local nonprofits earning the full match.

The nonprofits receiving the most donations were STRIDE, St. Agatha Academy, Clark County Homeless Coalition, Partners in Education and New Beginnings of Winchester, respectively.

Totals for the participation nonprofits were:

— STRIDE: $37,876

— St. Agatha Academy: $36,449

— Clark County Homeless Coalition: $25,988

— Partners in Education: $19,831

— New Beginnings of Winchester: $19,318

— Clark County Community Services: $17,429

— Bluegrass Heritage Museum: $15,844

— Leeds Center for the Arts: $15,132

— Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties: $12,731

— BCTC Winchester-Clark County Campus: $10,828

— Rose Mary C. Brooks Place: $10,331

— Winchester-Clark County Farmers’ Market: $7,918

— Achieving Recovery Together: $7,228

— Holly Rood: $6,628

— LIFE For Pets: $6,203

— Winchester Youth Soccer League: $4,326

— Hospice East: $3,329

— Friends of Hemp: $3,169

— Rowland Arts Center: $2,547

— Lady Veterans Connect: $632

In addition to raising the most, STRIDE had the most unique donors with 186.

There were six nonprofits that placed in the Top 20 leaderboard among the 110 participating charities: STRIDE was third, St. Agatha was fourth, Clark County Homeless Coalition was eighth, Partners in Education was 17th, New Beginnings was 18th and Clark County Community Services was 19th.

Besides Fayette County, Clark nonprofits raised more than any of the other participating counties, including neighboring Madison, Montgomery and Bourbon counties.

Last year, 18 Clark County nonprofits participated and raised more than $366,000, with organizations like the Clark County Homeless Coalition, STRIDE and St. Agatha Academy garnering donations of more than $20,000 each, including donations garnered through the challenge and matching grants.

This year in total, more than $1.4 million was raised through 7,524 donations to 110 organizations.
