Senior Emma McQuade signed Friday to commit to Kentucky State University to continue her volleyball career.

She almost cannot put it into words how hard she has worked for this moment.

“If I could use a word to describe the work I have put in it would be endlessly,” she said. “I would not be in this position without my team, family and coaches. Everything they have done has brought me to this moment and I am very proud of myself. I always think about what else I could do to improve myself, team and attitudes towards everything.”

McQuade said Kentucky State is receiving a very determined player.

“I am very confident,” she said. “I am an aggressive person and I always stay positive. I love seeing progress and I am excited to be there.”

McQuade said her

parents have always had her back and have motivated her through everything.

“My mom and my dad,” she said. “They push me to do the best I can do and nobody compares to them.”

McQuade is excited to get to Frankfort and meet new people.

“I cannot wait to meet my new teammates,” she said. “I know we are all going to become really close because we are a family like how we were in high school. I look forward to having a great season and hopefully winning conference.”

McQuade admits she has some concerns when she gets there.

“I am worried about not being good enough,” she said. “I am worried I may not try hard enough. I just have to make sure I go out and give the effort expected of me each time I play and control only what I can control.”

McQuade is planning to work the hardest she ever has this offseason to prepare to take her game to the next level.

“I am training every day if possible,” she said. “I am trying to get better and get to where I need to be.”

McQuade looks back on her high school career and said she is beyond thankful to grow up with the people she has.

“It has been great,” she said. “We had multiple changes in coaches, but besides that, my high school career has actually been really good. I am glad how far we have progressed over the past four years with this program and I am very happy to say that.”
