The Pet Corner: Sadie, it’s cold outside
Published 9:44 am Wednesday, December 19, 2018
Throughout the year I try my best to write informative columns to educate pet owners about serious and sometimes devastating diseases of dogs and cats.
So, at Christmas time each year, I like to have fun with a light-hearted approach to one of the more well-known holiday songs.
Most of us who are pet lovers enjoy a little pet humor from time to time.
To completely enjoy the following excerpt, you can’t just read, you must sing along to the tune of “Baby It’s Cold Outside!”
“Sadie, It’s Cold Outside”
(I really can’t Stay!)
But, Sadie, it’s cold outside
(I’ve got to go and play)
But Sadie, it’s cold outside
(This training has been)
Been hoping that you’d hop in
(So much entice)
I’ll give a treat when you sit twice
(My favorite is a snow flurry) Unsuitable, you’re not furry
(My obedience is just a bore) Training you is such a chore
(So really I’d better scurry) Unsuitable, please don’t hurry
(Well, maybe water you can pour) Put you’re four paws down on the floor
(The neighbor’s dog is in heat) Sadie, its cold outside
(Say what’s in this treat) No scraps to be had out there
(I wish I had chow) Your lesson isn’t over now
(Something to smell) I’ll take a break, you lay a spell
(I ought to go play, play, play, sir)
Might be easier to train a gopher
(At least I’m gonna say that I tried)
What’s the sense of hurting my pride
(I really can’t stay!)
Sadie, there’s no doubt
Sadie, it’s cold outside
(I simply don’t know)
Sadie, it’s cold outside
(The command of No!)
Sadie, it’s cold outside
(The training has been)
How yucky that you flopped in
(Conform and perform)
Looks like this place was hit by a storm
(Hope all those treats are nutritious)
Gosh your actions are suspicious
(Can’t get my paw to open the door)
Whole bag of treats in the top drawer
(My stubborn owner’s mind is vicious)
Gosh you need be repetitious
(But maybe just a treat more)
Never such a blizzard before
(I’ve got to go alone)
But, Sadie, you’d freeze out there
(Say I’ve got a thick coat)
It’s up to your ears out there
(You’ve really given demands)
I wish you’d learn shake hands
(But I’ve got to pee)
How can you do nothing for me
(There’s bound to be time tomorrow)
Think of all of my sorrow
(At least there will be a rawhide)
If you’re never trained and certified
(I really can’t Stay!)
Maybe I’ll just train Scout
Sadie, it’s cold outside
Seriously, enjoy your pets this holiday season and remember to stay warm.
Merry Christmas!
