Man charged for assaulting nurse, EMS

A Mount Sterling man is facing multiple assault charges after allegedly hitting several EMS workers and a nurse trying to care for him.
Homer Looney, 63, was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center early Wednesday morning by a Powell County EMS crew, according to court documents. The workers were attempting to restrain Looney so he could be treated but was being combative with the EMS crew and nurses.
Winchester Police officers were called to the hospital at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the arrest citation, Looney had several loud outbursts where he said he would “f— them up” if he got free and uttered other profanities.
The EMS personnel told officers Looney struck each of them several times. A CRMC nurse also said she was struck by Looney.
Officers also noted Looney smelled of alcohol.
Looney was arrested on four counts of third-degree assault, four counts of terroristic threatening and one count each of disorderly conduct and alcohol intoxication. He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, according to the jail website.
