SATURDAY, JAN. 5
— Clark County Republican Party meeting, 9 a.m. at Steak N Shake. Guest speaker will be Whitney Westerfield, candidate for attorney general. All registered Republicans are welcome to attend.
— Community prayer service, 10 a.m. at Cathedral Church of God, 3313 Lexington Road. All are invited to pray for community, elected officials, schools, first responders and more. In case of inclement weather, the service will be postponed to Jan. 12.
— Winchester Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter breakfast, 7 to 11 a.m. at Winchester Elks Lodge No. 2816, 255 Shoppers Drive. Buffet-style breakfast for $8. All Beacon of Hope residents will eat free. All proceeds donated will go to the Winchester Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter.
SUNDAY, JAN. 6
— Winchester Elks Lodge annual Hoop Shoot, 2 p.m. at College Park Gym. Registration opens at 1:30 p.m. Open to all children age 8 to 13 based on contestant’s age on April 1, 2019. There will be separate divisions for boys and girls with age groups 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13. There will be certificates, awards and prizes.

— NAMI Winchester-Clark County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) support and educational meeting, 7 p.m., at McCready Hall, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 2410 Lexington Road. Buy back fee of $25 once in first hour gets you an additional $5,000 in chips (must have no chips). Add on at break $25 gets you $5,000 in chips.
