Letter perfect: Clark students advance to county spelling bee

L-O-N-E-L-Y. Lonely.

That was the winning word for fourth-grader Olivia Catlett during the Strode Station Elementary School spelling bee Friday. Catlett and second-place winner Paul Groves will advance to the county competition, which includes students from fourth through eighth grade.

The county spelling bee will take place at noon Jan. 23 at George Rogers Clark High School. The makeup date is Jan. 30.

Other students advancing to the county competition include fourth graders Sadie Owens and Jacob Cantrell from Conkwright Elementary School and fourth graders Peyton Brock and Amber Pratt from Justice Elementary School.

Shearer Elementary School will have its school spelling bee at 1:45 p.m. Monday.
