Megan Huff made her 16th birthday as sweet as can be.

Instead of gifts, Huff asked party-goers to bring diapers, formula, socks and more for New Beginnings, a pregnancy care center in Winchester.

“I just didn’t want anyone to worry about bringing me gifts,” Huff said.

Huff decided to ask for donations for New Beginnings after seeing a Facebook post saying the center was in immediate need.

On Jan. 10, the center posted a list of out-of-stock items including Gerber Gentle formula and size five diapers. The center also said it was in need of Gerber Soothe formula and size six diapers as the center’s stock was dwindling.

Huff dropped off more than two dozen items to New Beginnings Tuesday afternoon.

Executive Director Becki Arvin said she appreciated Huff’s unselfishness and generosity.

“In an age where girls are doing this Sweet 16, you’re doing something for someone else,” Arvin told Huff. “It’s just amazing.”
