Barr: I want to her from you

Published 9:33 am Wednesday, February 6, 2019

As we embark upon a new year, I want to first express my sincere appreciation for the confidence you have once again placed in me by allowing me to serve another term as your Sixth District Congressman.

It’s an honor to represent my Kentucky home in Washington, D.C., and I’m grateful to have the continued privilege to serve, work and fight for you in the United States House of Representatives.

While I spend a considerable amount of time in Washington throughout the year, I can be home in the Sixth District on weekends and usually, at least one week of every month.

I always look forward to hearing firsthand the issues that are important to you.

Whether I’m in Kentucky or in Washington, my staff in Washington and in our district office in Lexington are always available to answer any questions you may have regarding pending legislation or public policy, to help you navigate issues with federal agencies and to hear your concerns and ideas.

This includes issues with:

— Social Security disability benefits

— Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

— Medicare benefits

— student loans

— expedited passport requests

— Social Security issues and

— veterans’ issues, including compensation claims, military records, service issues and medals.

Sixth District Veterans Coalition

The Sixth District Veterans Coalition, which I established more than six years ago, meets quarterly and gives our veterans the opportunity to offer me advice and input on their needs, including ideas for legislation to address veterans’ issues.

This coalition is non-partisan and open to all veterans who reside in the Sixth District.

Additionally, our meetings provide members with an opportunity to hear legislative updates and meet with staff regarding issues of concern.

To join the coalition, visit my website at barr.house.gov and click on the “Veterans Coalition” link. You can also follow the group and find meeting notices on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KY06VetsCoalition/.

Accessibility Initiative

One of the cornerstones of my service, and something in which I take great pride, is my accessibility initiative.

Our field staff has office hours in each of the Sixth District’s 19 counties on a monthly basis, allowing constituents to meet in their home county with our staff.

You can find our office hours on our website by visiting barr.house.gov and clicking on the “This Week’s Office Hours” link.

For questions about any of the services we can provide, or if you do not have the availability to access any of the online information mentioned above, contact our District Office at 859-219-1366.

E-newsletter

To keep up with the work we are doing on your behalf in Washington, D.C., and in Kentucky, I strongly encourage you to subscribe to our e-newsletter. You can find a link to sign up at the bottom of the barr.house.gov home page.

Visiting Washington, D.C.

Finally, if you are visiting our nation’s capital, my office can help arrange a tour of the U.S. Capitol building as well as other attractions.

You can contact the D.C. office at 202-225-4706.

As I said on election night, regardless of how you voted in last November’s election, if you live in the Sixth Congressional District, I want to hear from you.

I want to represent you to the best of my ability.

Whether we agree or disagree on any particular issue, I commit to listening and to doing everything in my power to find common ground with your concerns.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve you in Washington, D.C.

Andy Barr (R-Lexington) represents Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District.
