The case against a Winchester mother whose young children ingested cocaine is headed to the grand jury.

Anniquita Wright, 31, of 222 Third St., waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in Clark District Court, which sent the case straight to the grand jury for further action.

Wright was arrested Feb. 7 after two of her children, ages 2 and 4, tested positive for        cocaine. EMS personnel were called to the Head Start facility after the 4-year-old appeared lethargic and was hard to wake up. A hospital examination determined the child had ingested cocaine. A subsequent test also confirmed the younger child took the drug as well.

According to Winchester Police, Wright said he was letting a friend sell cocaine and crack from her home. Wright allowed police to search the residence, but no illegal drugs were found.

Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said previously he did not believe the drugs were intentionally given to the children, but they were accessible inside the residence and the children got into them.
