A taxi driver accused of holding a customer in his vehicle after giving her a threatening note sent his case to the grand jury Wednesday.

Johnny Barnett, 43, of 118 Finley Road, was arrested March 3 on a single count of first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

According to police and court documents, the female victim called Winchester Police after she was able to get out of the vehicle. She said Barnett gave her a note which said, “If you panic or scream I’m gonna hurt you.”

She said Barnett also tried to lock the car’s doors to keep her inside.

Barnett was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Clark District Court, where the judge would determine whether there was probable cause for the charge or not.

Instead, Barnett waived the hearing which sent the case to the grand jury, which has 60 days to issue an indictment or dismiss the case.

Barnett is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond.
