Main Street Winchester’s Rock the Block concert series is back for a fourth year with regional bands and more connected events.
Like previous years, there will be four concerts in front of the Clark County Courthouse beginning May 17, Main Street Winchester Director Rachel Alexander said. This year, there will be even more connected events going on as well to bring different crowds of people downtown.
“Over the years, we have been paying attention to how events are stacked and how they play off each other,” Alexander said. “It gives people a chance to explore in a new way and find out things about downtown they might not know.”
One of the new events will be a cruise-in on each concert night, organized by the Remember When Cruisers, she said. The concert organizers had talked about having a car show as part of the event for a while, but the car club approached them and asked about doing it each night, she said. The shows will be on North Main Street, a short distance from the concert.
Alexander said there may be other shopping events or other additions as the concerts get closer.
Ray’s Music Exchange will open the series on May 17 with their blend of classic rock and roll. One Way Street will perform on June 7, the night before the Beer Cheese Festival, followed by Bent Penny July 19 and Boogie G and the Titanics on August 23.
“We brought them back by popular demand,” Alexander said.
Each night there will also be children’s activities, food and West Sixth Brewery will have a tent. Harkness Edwards Winery will also have a booth beginning in June, she said.
