— Third annual Bluegrass River Run, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Boonesborough State Park. Launches from Fort Boonesborough State Park, paddling along pool nine of the Kentucky River, which is located just south of Lexington. The journey will immerse participants in the beauty of the 60-plus foot cliffs of the palisades as they enjoy floating refreshment stops, as well as musical artists playing from docks along the river at several points along the course. Cost is $35 through May 16 or $40 race day. Ages 11 and younger are $10 each. Wellness Challenge participants get $5 off with code. Friendly, leashed and vaccinated pets are welcome. Donations to the shelter are also welcome. The shelter is in need of non-clumping cat litter, cat food, dog shampoo, dryer sheets, laundry soap, dish soap, bleach, spray cleaner, collars, puppy food, paper towels and washable pet toys.
