Kennedy Igo enjoyed competing with the state’s best players in the Kentucky-Indiana Junior All-Star game held last weekend.
“It was very fun,” the George Rogers Clark senior guard said. “For us to only practice for two hours before we played, we looked really good. We lost the first game but in the second game we played really hard and more together and we came out with the win.”
The team split a pair if games against Indiana, dropping the first contest at Mercy Academy, but won the second contest in a shootout 111-107 on Monday at Jeffersonville High School in Indiana.
Igo finished with 12 points in the final game after scoring nine in the opener.
Igo, who has committed to play at Northern Kentucky University, enjoyed playing against some of the state’s best talent, including Oregon commit Maddie Scherr of Ryle, who led all scorers with 16 points in the series finale.
She added the experience will help her prepare for her senior campaign at Clark next season.
“It was a very good experience,” she said. “There are a lot of really great juniors in the state of Kentucky and Indiana and that just makes we want to work harder and improve my game.”
Igo plans to build on the experience and get better on both ends of the court.
“This summer I will be in the gym working on my game and getting stronger,” she said.
