The Winchester Labor Day Committee is wrapping up its plans for the 2019 Labor Day festivities.
This year’s theme is “Legacy … Still Standing.”
The Winchester Labor Day Committee’s second annual comedy show, Night with Friends — An Evening of Comedy, will kick off the festivities at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Leeds Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Comedians DD Rainbow, LC Funny and Shirley “Moms Maybe” Whitemore will perform. Tickets are $15 and are available at leedscenter.org.
The Kentucky State University Marching Band will return for this year’s Labor Day parade, which is at noon Sept. 2 on Main Street. The parade is the longest-running parade — going on about 115 years — in the state of Kentucky.
The weekend-long festivities will also include a softball tournament and family fun day at Harmon Park, live music and vendors on Washington Street and more.
A complete schedule of events will be available at a later date.
