Roy L. Ballard, 92, widower of Geaetta Berryman Ballard, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at his daughters’ home in Tennessee.
He was born on December 20, 1926 in Clark County to the late Eugene and Nettie Irvine Ballard. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, a farmer and retired from Bell South. Mr. Ballard loved trail riding and working teams of mules and horses.
He is survived by one son, John D. (Ann R. Grant) Ballard. One daughter, Caryl Jean Rose. Three granddaughters; Whitney and Spencer Ballard and Stephanie Rose (Sam) Martin. Two great grandchildren; Maddox James Warner and Maverick Lee Martin. One sister, Annie Houseman. One sister-in-law, Liz Berryman (Bill) Peters. One niece, Kara (Kevin) Verhoven. One Nephew, Mark (Barb) Houseman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Houseman.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 32 East Lexington Avenue, Winchester, KY by Pastor Don Burkhead. Pall bearers will be; Kevin Verhoven, Bill Peters, Billy Clay Ballard, Mark Houseman, Danny Sams, Ron Cundiff and Robert Carmichael. Honorary pallbearers will be all his horse riding friends. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. A bereavement meal to follow graveside services at First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM, until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.
