Davis: Market day at the Generations Center

Published 9:44 am Wednesday, August 21, 2019

We are in the full swing of the farmers’ market season.

With the weather conditions we had this year, a few farmers have already gotten to the end of their crop. However, there is still plenty available at the Winchester-Clark County Farmers’ Market.

If you have not visited, you will want to as soon as possible. Especially those of you who are participants in the Senior Farmers’ Market nutrition Program (SFMNP). This would be those residents of Clark County who applied for and received “farmers market vouchers.” Those families that participate in the Farmers Market WIC program facilitated by the Clark County Health Department will also want to use their food instruments soon.

If you cannot make it to the Winchester-Clark County Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, we have a special opportunity for you. This opportunity will be provided for any Clark County resident, not just those participating in WICFMNP or SFMNP.

There will be a special market day at the James B. Allen Generations Center, 32 Meadow St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

This will be the second special market day at the Generations Center this year.

Come early at 9 a.m., as vegetable supplies have started to become limited.

Market vendors that sell products other than those approved for WICFMNP and SFMNP have been invited to set up at the market as well.

We hope to have a variety of products available on the special market day. There may even be a few “goodies” handed out on behalf of Clark County Cooperative Extension Service.

If you need further directions to the Generation Center, have questions about the special market day or have other questions about the benefits of shopping at the local farmers market, contact us at the Clark County Extension Service by calling 859-744-4682.
