Marie Sophie Sena-Adams, 96, of Winchester, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Clark Regional Hospital in Winchester.
She was born in Durango, Colorado on September 25, 1923 to the late Solomon and Marie Trujillo Sena. Sophie was from a large family, of the Catholic faith and resided in Winchester since just after World War II. During the war her husband Robert was stationed in the Philippines and Sophie contributed to the war effort as a “Rosie the Riveter,” building planes in California that were shipped overseas to the US Military and our allies.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, going camping, fishing and cooking for them. Sophie was described by one family member as a “pioneer, survivor and a problem solver.” She was loved and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by two sons; Reese Jeff Adams (Debra) of Winchester and Robert Lewis Adams, Jr. also of Winchester; five grandchildren, Leigh, Dawn, Sara, Allison and Aaron; five siblings; several great grandchildren and good friend Gayle Coulter of Winchester.
In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Robert Lewis Adams, Sr.; one son, Charles Ray Adams and eighteen siblings.
