Last year, there were more than 500 participants. The program has been around for nearly 10 years.

This year’s challenge runs through March 18.

During tonight’s event, participants can register for the challenge, meet providers who will be offering classes throughout the challenge and see live demonstrations.

This year’s challenge is sponsored by parks and recreation, Clark County Health Department, Sekisui, Day One, KORT, Clark Regional Medical Center and Michelle Blackburn.

Beyond the incentive to be more active and lose weight, the challenge offers a variety of free and discounted classes, which run the gamut from workshops about healthy eating, workout classes, stress management and self-care classes, stretching, diabetes support, journaling and more. There are also discounts offered at various local restaurants for participants. The full schedule of events can be found at ccactivitycoalition.com.

This year, the challenge offers an online schedule at https://wc2020.sched.com where participants can bookmark classes and sync them to their calendar on their phone or other devices.

Participants must be at least 12 years or older to register. To be eligible for prizes, participants must complete a registration form and weigh in on the day of registration, be 18-years of age or older, weigh in at least five times and attend five different classes. Two of the five weigh-ins must include registration and the final weigh-in.

Participants can do weekly weigh-ins at one of four locations:

— Parks and Recreation, 15 Wheeler Ave, 744-9554

— Clark County Health Department, 400 Professional Ave., 744-4482

— Clark Clinic B Wellness Center, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 225 Hospital Drive, Ste. 155, 737-8454

— Winchester Family Practice, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 4 N. Highland St., 744-1445.

The coalition will award prizes to the top three male and female participants who have lost the most significant percentage of body weight over 10 weeks.
