AARP offering free tax preparation

Tax preparation, counseling and electronic filing are now available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday and Tuesday through April 14 at the annex of Central Baptist Church, 101 W. Lexington Ave.
This service is free and is offered to all taxpayers for personal returns through the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation Program. There is no age or income limitation and you do not have to be a member of AARP.
People using this service should bring last year’s tax return as well as documents showing income for 2019 and a government-issued ID.
Proof of taxes paid and contributions made are required for those itemizing deductions.
The tax counselors are trained through a program sponsors by AARP and the Internal Revenue Service.
