The George Rogers Clark Cardinals football team won their first playoff game in a decade this past fall and the seniors from the team are beginning their next chapters at the next level.

Last week, senior offensive lineman Blake Watkins signed his letter of intent to continue his football career at Morehead State University.

Less than a week later, fellow senior offensive lineman Chase Taulbee decided that the Eagles’ program was the right fit for him as well, and committed to Morehead State.

“First off I’d like to thank my friends and family for helping me through this process, I’d also like to thank all of my coaches that have taught me the game I love. I appreciate all the college coaches that have recruited me,” Taulbee wrote on Twitter. “After much thought and consideration, I have decided to continue my education and football career at Morehead State University!”

Taulbee was part of an offensive line that helped junior Azariah Israel rush for over 2,000 yards and became one of the state’s top running backs.

After the two offensive linemen made their commitments, the first Cardinal from the defensive side of the ball, Qua Lewis, made his commitment.

“First of all, I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. I also want to thank my family and friends for all their support. To all my coaches, starting with the Lil Cards all the way through George Rogers Clark, thank you for all the time and effort you put in to help me be the best player possible. Finally to all the great people in the community of Winchester, KY, thank you for all your support,” Lewis posted on his Twitter account. “With that being said, I would like to announce that I am committing to Georgetown College to continue my academic and athletic career.”

Lewis was the Cardinals’ leading tackler last season, racking up 109 total tackles, including 75 solo and five tackles for loss. Lewis was also the team’s leader in fumble recoveries (2) and picked up one interception.
