Teacher training workshop at First Baptist

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., will host Beverly J. Sonnier for a teacher training workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21. The workshop will include an in-depth training about teaching the gospel and building a strong Christian education ministry. This training is for teachers, deacons, ministers and anyone interested in learning more about teaching the gospel. Cost is $15 per person, or group rates apply. Services at Salem Church

It has been said that the trouble with the world today is not the presence of darkness, but the absence of light. Hear more about it this Sunday at Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road, when Pastor Don Stanley shares what it means to be a Christian light. Worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m. Following the service, the “Soup and Scripture” Bible study will start a consideration of the Psalms, looking at Psalm 1.

Valentines social at Lighthouse World Outreach

Lighthouse World Outreach, 127 E. Hickman St., will host a Valentine’s Day social at 7 p.m. Feb. 8. There will be fellowship, games and food. Prizes will be given. Cost if $5 per person. Adults only. Bring a finger food dish to share.

Services at First Presbyterian Church

Worship services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Adult, children and youth Sunday school classes begin at 9:30 a.m. There will be an Improv Theater game night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. Enjoy as part of the audience of jump in and learn to play. There will be line dancing at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the fellowship hall, followed by a prayer meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the church library. The Rev. Ryan Bradney is pastor.
