Supporters of the Generations Center can get some relief from the cold and damp and help warm elder hearts by coming to lunch on Valentine’s Day.

The senior center’s 19th annual chili fundraiser is Friday, Feb. 14, from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Generations Center at 32 Meadow Street.

For $6, guests get a bowl of homemade chili with a peanut butter or pimiento cheese sandwich, crackers, a homemade brownie and a beverage.

The day before the holiday, on Thursday, lunch will be delivered to businesses from 11 to 1:30.

Businesses interested in deliveries Thursday or reservations Friday may call the Kentucky River Foothills Development Council at 744-3235. Orders may also be faxed to 744-8062 or emailed to dsims@foothillscap.org.

According to Dianna Sims, the director, the chili luncheon is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the James B. Allen Jr. Generations Center, and all proceeds from the benefit pay for programs for the seniors.

The center offers seniors 60 years or older with the opportunity to enjoy the company of others and it provides recreation, exercise and nutrition programs, field trips, educational activities, health screening and other services, such as information and assistance, transportation, advocacy, counseling, legal aid, homemaker and outreach programs.
