Services at First Christian Church

— The First Presbyterian Church and the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will join together for worship at 7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26. The service will be hosted by First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive. During the worship service, congregants will be invited to observe a Lenten discipline and will receive the Imposition of Ashes. The service will be led by the Rev. Ryan Bradney of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Johns of First Christian Church will bring the message. All are welcome to join us for worship.

— This year, the weekly Wednesday gathering at noon during Lent will be hosted by the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 24 E. Hickman St. The annual Lenten Brown Bag Devotion Series participating churches will include First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), First Presbyterian Church, Salem Presbyterian Church and Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The pastors from each congregation, the Rev. Dr. Jerry Johns, the Rev. Ryan Bradney, the Rev. Don Stanley and Father Jim Trimble, will share in leading the weekly study. This year the study will focus on The Lord’s Prayer. Bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Call First Christian Church at 744-3181 for more details.

Teacher training workshop

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., will host Beverly J. Sonnier for a teacher training workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21. The workshop will include an in-depth training about teaching the gospel and building a strong Christian education ministry. This training is for teachers, deacons, ministers and anyone interested in learning more about teaching the gospel. Cost is $15 per person, or group rates apply. Services at Salem Church

The transfiguration of Jesus Christ marked a turning point in His life and ministry, even as it marks a transition in the Church’s liturgical year. Come and learn more about it this Sunday at Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road, as Pastor Don Stanley shares his sermon, “To Be Transfigured.” Worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m. Following the service, the “Soup and Scripture” Bible study will continue a consideration of the Psalms, looking at Psalm 2. On Feb. 26, the church will share in a special Ash Wednesday service beginning at 6 p.m.

Services at Ruckerville Church of Christ

Enjoy singing traditional hymns of faith? Services at Ruckerville Church of Christ are at 11 a.m. Sundays. Bible study is at 10 a.m.

Services at Grace Freewill Baptist

Grace Freewill Baptist Church, 4281 Haley Road, was services at 11 a.m. Sundays. Sunday school is from 10 to 11 a.m. Estill Adkins is pastor. Children’s church is offered. All are welcome to join.

Services at Forest Grove Christian

Worship services at Forest Grove Christian Church, 4733 Old Boonesboro Road, are at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Sunday School is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday evening Bible study is at 6 p.m. Wednesday Bible study and youth groups meet at 6 p.m. Sunday worship service is broadcast on local cable channel 378 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m. and Fridays at 8 p.m.

Services at Liberty Bible COG

Services at Liberty Bible Church God, 6615 Veterans Memorial Highway, are as follows: Sunday School, 9:30 a.m.; Sunday morning services, 10:30 a.m., with children’s church and nursery provided; Sunday evening services, 6 p.m.; Wednesday night Bible study at 6 p.m. The Rev. — Trinity United Methodist Church, 306 N. Main St., has Sunday services at 9 a.m. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. There is a contemporary service, First Fire, at 11:15 a.m.

— Trinity United Methodist Church Thrift Store is open every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Shepherds Church services

Shepherds Church Independent Full Gospel, 1107 Pioneer Drive, has Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome.

Food pantry at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., operates a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry is open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624.

Services at First Presbyterian Church

Worship services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Adult, children and youth Sunday school classes begin at 9:30 a.m. There will be an Improv Theater game night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the fellowship hall, which includes family-friendly fun. Enjoy as part of the audience or join in and learn to play. There will be line dancing at 5 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall followed by a prayer meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the church library.
