Billy Joe Nichols, 82, husband of Hazel Patrick Nichols, passed away on March 13, 2020 at his home. He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on July 26, 1937, to the late John Lee and Trixie Blackburn Nichols. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved his church family and was strong in his faith for God. He was retired from Congleton and Hacker Construction Company. He was a family man, who was loved by many, and will be deeply missed. In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by daughters, Virginia (Lawrence) Mitchell, and Barbara Nichols; grandchildren, Anthony (Kayla) Chism, Kesara Mitchell, Patrick Nichols, Phillip Mitchell; great granddaughter, Katarina Chism; siblings, Wilburn (Brenda) Nichols and Mary Frona Justice, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Earl Nichols; a sister, Mintie Nichols Blackburn, and a nephew LaGrand Parsons. Services will be at 1:00PM, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastors Don Burkhead and Tony Stang. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12:00PM until time of service.
