A Danville man was arrested Thursday for allegedly participating in the kidnapping and shooting of a Clark County man last week.

Kinnard allegedly accompanied Winchester resident Jayme Barker and the victim, Jermaine Bennett Jr., from Winchester to Nancy, a community in Pulaski County, a week ago.

Deputies and EMS personnel were called to the scene on March 27, and found Bennett with a gunshot wound to the leg and zip ties around one wrist and an ankle.

Detectives identified Barker as a suspect during the investigation, and arrested her the following day in Pulaski County.

According to the arrest citation, Barker told detectives she believed Bennett had molested her daughter. She said she wanted to scare him, but things went too far.

When they reached Pulaski County, Barker said she and Kinnard dragged Bennett from the vehicle. Barker said she pulled a handgun and shot Bennett in the leg. She and Kinnard then drove away, leaving Bennett behind.

As they returned to Somerset, Barker said she threw the gun and Bennett’s cell phone into a lake from Kentucky 80.

Barker is being held without bond in the Pulaski County Detention Center on charges of first-degree assault, kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence.

Kinnard is being held on a $150,000 bond in the Boyle County Detention Center.
