LEXINGTON — Although the Lexington Legends won’t be playing baseball at Whitaker Bank Ballpark this season, the park will play host to the first College Commonwealth Baseball Club Game next week.

The contest will be played at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark and will feature college wooden bat contests and youth league tournaments. The CCBL will feature five teams with players from several college across the region, including Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown College, Western Kentucky University and Transylvania.

“We are extremely excited and ready for baseball to be back.” Legends President and CEO Andy Shea said. “We have been preparing during this time to keep Whitaker Bank Ballpark a safe and family friendly place to enjoy a game and we thank Governor (Andy) Beshear for giving us the opportunity to show that.”
