Local and federal officials are searching for a man charged with shooting two people earlier this month on Oliver Street.
Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said two brothers were shot following an argument on Oliver Street around 3:30 a.m. July 9.
Police are looking for Johnnie D. Stanley Jr., 30, in connection with the shooting. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said he believes Stanley is not in Clark County and detectives have been in contact with other agencies, including Lexington Police and the U.S. Marshal Service.
“He’s outside of our jurisdiction,” Hall said.
Hall said the shooting occurred in the street when there was a group of people around.
“They were drinking and having a good time and things went south,” Hall said.
Officers had been called to Oliver Street about an hour earlier for a fight, he said.
Investigators aren’t sure what prompted the shooting.
“It was a disagreement,” Hall said. “We can’t say for certain what it was over. We’re getting several stories about what it was about.”
One of the victims received a superficial leg wound, Hall said. The other, though, remains in the intensive care unit.
Hall said the warrant for Stanley will charge him with two counts of first-degree assault. Other charges, such as wanton endangerment, may be added later, he said.
Anyone with information on Stanley’s whereabouts should call the Winchester Police Department or local law enforcement.
