Family, friends and coaches masked up for a gathering at the Davis house on Saturday to watch Jaxson “Jax” Davis sign with the Louisville Cardinals to continue his baseball career.

Jax is a 215-pound, 6’4” RHP/OF senior attending Lexington Christian Academy, where he has started the last three seasons.

Jax previously played for George Rogers Clark as an eighth grader, and was instrumental in their 2017 Regional Championship win.

Jax is currently ranked 197th overall in the nation according to the class of 2021 Perfect Game rankings.

As an outfielder, Jax is a 6.78 runner with an impressive arm, holding a current Prep Baseball Report record of a 96 mph velocity. He also consistently pitches in the mid-90s for straights and 80s with a hard shifting slider.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to play for the University of Louisville as they are the winningest program in the country over the last 10 years,” Jaxson said. “My class, the 2021 recruiting class at Louisville, is currently ranked No. 7 in the country, so my work begins now to achieve my goals.

“One of my goals is to contribute to another run for the college world series and their first national championship.

“I want to thank all the people who helped me get to this point. It means a lot to me that everyone came out Saturday to the signing, especially in this crazy time.”

Jax is the nephew of GRC alumni, former GRC coach and MLB player Matt Ginter.

For the Davises it has always been about sports, community and family.

Jax won’t have to wait long to have family on the field with him. His younger brother, Brady (Class of 2024), has committed to U of L as well.
