William Edward Bowman, age 91

William Edward Bowman, age 91, of Clark County passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at the University of Kentucky Hospice in Lexington.

He was born in Clark County on May 16, 1929, to John M. and Nora Gertrude Benton Bowman, the sixth of 10 siblings, and lived in Clark County all of his life.

He worked at Leggett & Platt, Winchester, for 60 years as a manager and retired at the age of 80.

He was devoted to his family and was especially proud of all his children and grandchildren.

He loved the outdoors, boating and fishing and raised a large garden every year. He was known for growing the best old fashion beef heart tomato.

His loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Zona Marie Bowman, Winchester; his children: Vivian Bowman-Edwards (Steven), Cary, North Carolina; Gary Bowman (Kathy), Hampstead, North Carolina; Trudy Bowman Glover (Harold), Campbellsville, Kentucky; Silas Willoughby Jr. (Joseph Gilio), Winchester; Rebecca Bowman Palmer (Willie), Richmond; five grandchildren: Kristin Montes (Valeriano), Morrisville, North Carolina; Travis Glover (Robin), Los Angeles; Stephanie (John) Laverde, Norfolk, Virginia; Kobe and Aniston Palmer, Richmond; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Neville Bowman, Winchester; sisters: Genevieve Wagoner, Stuart, Florida; Christine (Neale) Hall; Dorothy Cassada; Shirley Perrett, all of Lexington; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family; and friends including his large Leggett & Platt family.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Virginia Richards, Elizabeth Abbott and Mary Ann Gillispie; and a brother James Ellis Bowman.

He is also survived by a close friend Gene Woestman.

A drive-by visitation was Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at the Boonesboro Cemetery. Services will be private. Burial will follow in the Boonesboro Cemetery.
