Beginning today, donors have the opportunity to make contributions to support more than two dozen local nonprofits as part of the annual GoodGiving Challenge.

The online donation campaign began at 9 a.m. today and ends at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 7, offering seven days for nonprofits to raise money.

The annual challenge is facilitated by the Blue Grass Community Foundation.

Last year, local nonprofits raised more than $470,000 in donations.

The Clark County Community Foundation will once again be making a dollar-to-dollar match for all donations up to $10,000 made to local nonprofits.

Nonprofits can also win some of $600,000 worth of other matching prizes through the online challenge.

For many local nonprofits, the GoodGiving Challenge serves as their major fundraising campaign for the year.

Donors can give to a variety of local causes, from addiction recovery to the arts, history, animal welfare, education, homelessness prevention and more.

The 25 nonprofits participating from Clark County are Achieving Recovery Together, BCTC Winchester-Clark County Campus, Bluegrass Heritage Museum, Clark County Community Services, Clark County Homeless Coalition, Clark County Youth Sports Association, Friends of Hemp, Friends of the Clark County Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties, Holly Rood, Hospice East, Leeds Center for the Arts, Legacy Greenscapes, LIFE for Pets, March Shemwell Foundation, New Beginnings of Winchester, Partners in Education of Clark County, Rose Mary C. Brooks Place, Rowland Arts Center, St. Agatha Academy, STRIDE, Swimchester Sailfish, The Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter, Winchester Community Work Group and Winchester-Clark County Farmers Market.
