A Winchester man was indicted Friday for allegedly hitting a woman in the face with a rock along with a woman charged for a 2019 fight.

Zaire Dudley, 26, of Denny Avenue, was formally indicted for the Oct. 1 incident on Oxford Drive.

According to Winchester Police, officers were called to the victim’s home after Dudley allegedly threw a rock at her, which struck her in the face and left a laceration and swelling.

The following day, the woman said she went to the hospital and was told her nose was broken. She also said Dudley returned to her home that day and kicked the door open. She said she called police when she realized he was armed with a large kitchen knife.

Dudley was arrested later in October on warrants.

The woman said Dudley also broke her eye socket during an assault in June.

Dudley was indicted for second-degree assault, second-degree burglary and second-degree persistent felony offender.

The grand jury also indicted 37-year-old Tammy Moore for a separate assault, which occurred more than a year ago.

Moore, of Holly Avenue, was arrested in September when a Winchester Police officer identified her walking in town.

Moore is accused of assaulting another woman on Oct. 20, 2019. The victim, police said, had multiple injuries and facial fractures that required surgery to repair.

Police said Moore had likely been moving around the region following the assault. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said they were not actively searching for Moore, but a patrol officer saw her and checked for active warrants.

In her interview with police, Moore reportedly told detectives she did not mean to hurt the woman and went “overboard,” according to the warrant.
