Mona Marie Long Haggard, 89, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, December 14, 2020. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Ernest and Virginia B. Long on January 18, 1931. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haggard is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jesse Haggard; granddaughter, Melanie Rae; grandson, Michael Lee Haggard; and her sister, Marlene Thompson. She leaves behind three daughters, Janet Wills, Sandy Yarnell and Leann (Billy Joe) Smith; three grandchildren, Christy (Gary) Cairel, Gina (Bryan) Jackson and Brandon (Liz) Johnson; several great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Daley and Linda (Ronnie) Harpe; and her brother, Harold “Buddy” (Pat) Long. Mrs. Haggard was a member of the Allensville Baptist Church in Winchester, Kentucky. She loved The Lord so much. Even in her dementia, she never forgot the words to the songs she sang in church for many years. In her last years before she went to the nursing home, she would save all of her $1 dollar bills to give to missions through The Lighthouse Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please give to missions through your local church. Due to Covid-19, a private graveside service will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for later in the spring. www.clarklegacycenter.com
