On Sunday Jan. 17, 2021, Kay Rhodes, loving wife, mother and Nana passed away at age 70. Kay was an only child, born March 15, 1950, in Lexington, Ky., to Nick and Dollie (Colosimo) Domino. She grew up in Winchester, Ky., and attended Saint Agatha Academy. Kay went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Education (English) from the University of Kentucky. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority where she served as Rush Chairman and Vice President. On January 8, 1972 she married Tom Rhodes. They had two children, Nikki (Rob) Kehres and Brad (Renchell) Rhodes. She had 5 grandchildren: Tatum, Ryder, Mason, Kellan, and Ashlyn. She taught at Conkwright Middle School in Winchester, Smith Middle School in Chillicothe, and retired from Edgewood Middle School in Wooster, where she taught 7th grade language arts.
Kay was preceded in death by her father Nick and her mother Dollie. She is survived by her loving husband Tom of 49 years, who stood by her side throughout her almost five-year battle with cancer, her two children and five grandchildren who will all miss her beautiful smile dearly.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran officiating. It will be livestreamed on our funeral home Facebook page at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
Kay asked that donations be made to Tracy’s Paws Rescue, PO Box 849, Hondo, Texas, 78861. She enjoyed watching all of the stories of rescued pets shared on Facebook.
She also wanted to extend a special thank you to all of her oncology doctors and nurses at the Cleveland Clinic in Wooster, especially Dr. Paul Masci.
