Byron Babb, 43, and Tabatha Greer, 33, were indicted Jan. 15 by the Clark County grand jury for second-degree manslaughter. Babb was also charged as a persistent felony offender based on previous convictions.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an overdose on Rosebud Lane on June 15, 2020. When deputies arrived, they found the body of 36-year-old Ira Daugherty, who had already passed away.

Through the investigation, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said detectives confirmed Babb and Greer were the only people in the residence. They also believe they supplied the illegal drugs which caused Daugherty’s death.

An autopsy determined he died from the combined effects of ingesting fentanyl, norfentanyl, hydrocodone and dihydrocodeine, Perdue said.

Greer and Babb were arrested in November 2020.

The grand jury also indicted a Winchester man for allegedly dragging a police officer and ramming a police vehicle during an attempted arrest.

Clarence R. Reynolds, 27, was arrested Oct. 30, 2020, on Mutual Avenue after his vehicle got stuck in a yard.

In court documents, officers said they saw Reynolds sitting in a vehicle and attempted to serve an arrest warrant for another pursuit. Reynolds reportedly refused to show his hands, even after officers broke the vehicle window.

Reynolds allegedly threw a bag out of the car window and put the vehicle in reverse, dragging an officer about 20 feet and hitting a vehicle. Police said he then drove toward three other offices, before driving through several yards and fences before getting stuck.

Reynolds was eventually arrested.

The grand jury indicted Reynolds for first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm), failure to maintain insurance, driving on a suspended operator’s license and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Reynolds was indicted separately for first-degree fleeing or evading police, driving on a suspended operator’s license and first-degree persistent felony offender.

The grand jury also returned the following indictments:

• William Gross, theft by unlawful taking, complicity to theft by unlawful taking.

• Jeremiah Taulbee and Dwayne Cooper, receiving stolen property over $500 (Taulbee and Cooper), receiving stolen property over $500 (Taulbee), first-degree persistent felony offender (Taulbee).

• Donna J. Johnson, theft by unlawful taking under $500, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance.

• John M. Brown and Cleveland Jones, second-degree robbery (Brown), complicity to second-degree robbery (Jones), first-degree persistent felony offender (Brown).

• William Gross, third-degree assault, resisting arrest.

• William Gross, first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
