Clark County’s COVID-19 incidence rate — the number of coronavirus infections per 100,000 — has fallen to its lowest rate of the new year.

As of Thursday, the rate was 38.6, which is still in the critical, or red, category, but far below where it was in December and January.

The highest incidence rate to date was on Jan. 8, when it reached 90.2 cases per 100,000.

The Clark County Health Department reported 42 new cases of COVID in the county for Thursday and Friday, bringing the total since March 2020 to 2,269. Two hundred forty-six of those are active cases, 2004 have met the criteria for recovery, and 19 have died as a result of COVID.

Becky Kissick, executive director of the Health Department, said in an email following a mass vaccination clinic on Thursday that her staff has administered more than 840 doses of COVID-19 vaccine  in the past week.
