In the past week, the Clark County Health Department has administered more than 840 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to our K-12 school personnel, frontline healthcare workers, first responders and our 70 and older  population.

That number includes nearly 600 public and private school employees at a mass vaccination clinic Jan. 30 at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School and those vaccinated at another mass clinic on Thursday.

Since the initial school employee vaccinations, public health employees have administered the vaccine to school employees who missed the first clinic, gave first responders their second, booster, shots and started giving shots to those 70 years old and older among the general population, the department reported.

“While we strive to follow the phase guidance, in order to maximize the number of persons protected by immunization, Kentucky has set a goal to administer 90 percent or more of all doses received within seven days of arrival. The Health Department has met and exceeded this goal,” Executive Director Becky Kissick said in a statement. “We will continue to push out vaccine as quickly as possible. The department is working to contact and schedule individuals from the wait list.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process.”
