Mary E. Tyler passed away Feb. 16, 2021. Mary was born in Winchester to the late Isaac and Rosa Blanton. For the first 30 years of her working career, she was the owner of South Main Grocery, which many people referred to as Mary’s Market. For the past 33 years she was a member of the Lexington Farmers Market where she was affectionately known as “The Peach Lady.”
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Norman Tyler; sisters Iva Woolwine Sharp, and Frances McIntosh; and brothers James and Johnny Blanton. Also preceding her in death were two nephews that she dearly loved, Tommy Woolwine and Roy Hounschell.
Mary leaves two sons to mourn her loss, Bobby (Gloria) Tyler and David (Lisa) Tyler of Winchester; three grandsons who were the light of her life, Michael Tyler (New York), Zachery Tyler (Lexington) and Bradley Tyler (Winchester); one sister, Delores Christy; a special niece-in-law Jan Hounschell; a special nephew Robert Woolwine; and many other nieces and nephews.
Although Mary loved flowers, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Dr., Winchester, KY 40391.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at Winchester Cemetery. Arrangements made by Scobee Funeral Home.
