Elizabeth R. “Betty” Green, 84, beloved wife of James B. “J.B.” Green, Jr., passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 14, 2021, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a series of complications stemming from a lengthy battle with Leukemia.

Betty was the oldest of two children born to the late Reverend B. D. and Sarah Louise Rake, in Louisville, Kentucky, March 11, 1936. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky in the early 1950’s, while her father and mother served as minister and minister’s wife at the Main Street Church of Christ in Winchester, Kentucky. She was working as head of the OB unit at the old Clark County Hospital when she married her soulmate, a very godly, young man by the name of J. B. Green, Jr. He had moved from South Carolina to attend Southeastern Christian College and was, at that time employed by Bundy Tubing, Inc.

J.B. and Betty had two children; Cindy and Brian. The two provided a safe and secure home for their family, that was filled with love, laughter, and endless support for each other and their children. Their highest priority was to raise their family with a Biblical worldview, naming the Bible as the only true source of absolute truth. This while guiding each child towards developing their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
