Achieving Recovery Together (ART) is one of four recipients of a Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE) grant. The funds allow ART  to expand as a recovery community center. ART will relocate to a larger facility, develop programs for more off-site locations, and serve more people with Substance Use Disorder.

“Our hopes are to make recovery resources more available and to stop the stigma” said JuaNita Everman, executive director of ART.

A recovery community center addresses the needs of individuals and families with substance use disorder that medical professionals cannot. ART works with them to remove barriers to recovery, such as transportation to treatment, education about the disorder and treatment options, and assistance in basic needs such as obtaining identification. ART’s peer support specialists and caches meet people where they are physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They provide services on all pathways to recovery and through a variety of partnerships.

Medical providers Eastern Kentucky Recovery, Beall Recovery Center and Mountain Comprehensive Care will work directly with ART and its community. These partners offer medical assistance, including Medication for opioid use disorder, counseling and psychiatric care.

The funding will also allow ART to facilitate support groups at New Beginnings and the RAC. One of these groups will be for 16-30-year-olds, Young People in Recovery. The three non-profits fight the stigma of seeking help, no matter the issue. They utilize each other’s resources and expertise in order to better support the people they serve.

Working together, ART and its partners believe they can create a system of care oriented around long-term recovery.

“I love working with our community partners. We have an awesome group of people who do it for the right reasons. ” Everman said.

ART aims to increase their reach by 50% using the funds from the KORE grant. ART’s motto, Just one more person saved, could add up to 2,000 more people on the path to recovery by the end of the year.

Achieving Recovery Together is a recovery-oriented community based in Winchester. It strives to dramatically increase both the number of individuals and families in recovery and the quality and accessibility of services.
