For the second year in a row, Kentucky won’t have a spring football game.

The Wildcats will forge ahead with 15 spring workouts that will begin Tuesday and conclude in mid-April. Because of the ongoing pandemic and the vaccination clinic in place at Kroger Field, school officials opted against hosting a Blue-White contest.

“We are excited to begin spring practice next week,” Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said. “Although we won’t have a spring game, we are looking forward to what next season might look like and hopefully that is having full capacity at Kroger Field. We can’t wait to feel that energy again.

“I want to give a special shout-out to everyone working hard to give COVID tests and vaccines at Kroger Field. We appreciate the work they are doing for the people in the Commonwealth.”

Kentucky returns 15 starters from last year’s 5-6 squad that defeated North Carolina State in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. A total of nine “super seniors,” those who opted to return for a second year of senior eligibility because of the pandemic also return for the Wildcats.
