Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I am concerned and I hope you are concerned also. There has been public opinion articles written in regard to the UK basketball players for taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem. I have not always been a UK fan but over years things has changed and I am a UK fan and proud. In the news broadcast there were a leader in law enforcement burning UK jersey and stated Calipari get your boys in line. I am under the impression that the officer is to uphold the law and not suppress it, some people asking for funds to be taken away. The law, the university president and the athletic director stated that they had a right to a peaceful protest to bring awareness that there is a need to work toward equality and keep the line of communication open. Protest was not done out of disrespect to the American Flag.
Is there a double standard or selective privilege? On Jan. 6, 2021, our nation capitol was under siege by rioters because they believed that the President-elect Biden victory was fraudulent although the recounts and courts decision ruled that there was no fraud. There were Trump followers that would not accept the truth and used their power physically to overtake the capitol of our nation for hours before the law enforcement gained control. There was lawlessness, people beaten and even beaten with the Amercian Flag and lives lost. People were threatened and wanting to hang the vice-president and other political leaders. There were some together praying to God. God does not condone this behavior. God is love, God is not pleased with what was done ( 1st John 4:20 says if a man say, I love God and hateth his brother , he is a liar, for he that loveth not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? This insurrection has blood on the people hands that was there. There are those that want to crucify those basketball players but very little is said about the insurrection at the nation capitol. Would the same restraint be used with people of color, restraint from teargas, restraint from beating and restraint from shooting to kill?
I thought about how Jesus Christ did no wrong yet they would rather kill Jesus Christ and let Barabbas go free, a man that committed a crime. The people cried out that Jesus blood was on us and our children(Matthew 27:21-26).
We can make our community better but we need to sit down in earnest and realize that people of color is not your enemy. I am your brother and willing to be respectful, earnest, communicate and willing to work together to eliminate division that has gotten worse. I am. How about you?
Respectfully,
William Baker
