Winchester Police are investigating two fatal shootings that occurred at 186 Spruce Court Tuesday just before 7:35 a.m.

Detective Steve Charles told the Sun Wednesday morning the initial evidence indicates that the suspect, Kino Kendall, 23, apparently shot and killed Esther Meza 22, then shot himself.

However, the case is still under investigation.

Kino Kendall was airlifted from Clark Regional Medical Center to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, where he died Wednesday afternoon of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to Deputy Coroner Katie Lisle.

Meza, who had multiple gunshot wounds, died Tuesday night.

Lisle said Meza was apparently Kendall’s estranged wife. She said dispatch had reported several calls from the residence about a domestic dispute prior to the shootings.

The shootings happened in a car outside the home, and Lisle said there were witnesses.

“Several people heard the shots,” she said.

Meza’s 3-year-old son has been placed by social services with his family.

On Thursday, police did not have any new information on the case to make public.

On Facebook, Crystal Rodriguez and some other women have started a GoFundMe page in English and Spanish for Meza’s funeral expenses. It included a photograph. As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, they had raised $3,530.
