Betty Blakely Elliott Luigart Snowden, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in Winchester, Kentucky. She was born May 25, 1928, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Mary B. Cheely and Morgan Elliott. Betty was the wife of the late Jess F. Snowden and the late Fred W. Luigart Jr.

Betty was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and the University of Kentucky. She retired from Tates Creek Elementary School after 20 years as a physical education teacher. In her retirement, Betty enjoyed golfing, gardening, and art. She was an accomplished oil painter and member of the Winchester Art Guild. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winchester, Kentucky.

She is survived by her two children, retired CDR Craig (Connie) Luigart USN, Rebecca (Owen) Luigart-Stayner; grandchildren, Kristen P.(Tim) Luigart-Page, Alyssa L.(Travis) Musser, Wyatt Luigart Stayner, Ellen Lee Stayner; great-grandchild Mason Andrew Musser; step-children, Rebecca (predeceased Ken) Snowden Mozingo, Sara Beth Snowden; step-grandchildren Chris Alley, Mark (Chris Ruble) Mozingo; step-great-grandchildren Brooke Allison Alley, and Dylan Christopher Alley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Anne (Eugene) Flood.

She enjoyed the company and comfort of her home healthcare team, especially Bette Green, Missy Durbin, Marcy Land, Brittany Profitt, Lu Luch, and the team with Hospice East.

Services will be held at Leon Pace Memorial Chapel, May 26, 2021, at 1 p.m., by Father Frank Brawner, of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, 74 West Main Street Lexington, KY.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., until the time of service.
