Betty Jane Reed Brooks, 78, widow of John C. Brooks, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. She was born on November 8, 1942, in Powell County, KY, to the late James Bruce Reed and Carrie Belle Conlee Reed. She was retired from Osram Sylvania after 36 years. Betty was a member of First Church of God, where she served as a deacon, on the mission’s board, the accounting team, and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Clark County Christian School Board and Boonesboro Lioness.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dan Eldridge of Winchester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carson and Tammy Brooks of Winchester and Master Sgt. Keith and Hope Brooks of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren, Ian and Caelan Eldridge and William, Jessica, and Matthew Brooks, all of Winchester and Alexandra and Ashley Brooks, Salisbury; five great-grandchildren, Elivia, Cameron, Esmerelda, Juri, and McKenzie, all of Winchester; two sisters, Yula Faye (Lawrence) Tyra and Ida Marie (Lee) Tyra; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by five siblings, James, William, Thomas, Robert, and Floriene Reed.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at First Church of God, 2500 Colby Road, Winchester, KY 40391 by Pastors Alan Hutchinson and Bill Konstantopoulos. Burial will follow at Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be William Brooks, Ian Eldridge, Caelan Eldridge, Joseph Black, Chuck Brooks, and Douglas Liggett.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
