After a summer off because of Covid, the Winchester Players community theatre group is returning this summer with two new performances.

The group will be attending Robert D. Campbell Jr. High from July 29 through Aug. 1 to perform “Tuck Everlasting,” and Aug. 27 -29 for “Pure Imagination.”

“Tuck Everlasting is a children’s book about a little girl who meets a family that can live forever,” explained Winchester Players founder Kelly Estes. “She has the choice between growing up and living a real life, or living as a child forever. After a year of everyone being at home and not being able to experience what normal is and being isolated; it’s a great show to start out with. Just showing how someone can live to the fullest and not be cooped up at home.”

Pure Imagination, meanwhile, is a musical revue — a type of multi-act theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance, and sketches — for performers age 5-16. The music, costume design, and script will all be put together by Winchester Players.

“After being away for so long, we’re really excited to finally be putting shows together again,” Estes said.

Admission to each show is $12 for adults and $8 for 12 and under. The shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
